Just a quick one, whatever happened to the album? They used to tell stories and be an immersive experience which could take you to another world.But now it just feels like they’re playlists, just full of songs that are trying to make radio and break the top 100 and maybe win an award. Maybe I’m just not looking in the right places, although the new gorillaz record (The Mountain) did give me the real feeling of an album a great experience to listen to and to watch live with great collaborations and a real exploration into other genres and embracing them as if it were they’re own. It was brilliant I really enjoyed it. However a bit off topic, How are we going to get these great bands that are just made from some friends fucking about in their garage and playing pubs, clubs or wherever when there’s just solo singers competing to be number 1 and get radio plays with catchy songs rather than creating something that came from somewhere they didn’t realise they had and putting everything they had into an album. Maybe I’m wrong, and I’m not discrediting these new artists they are great musicians and obviously are great at what they do, But they just don’t scratch the itch in my brain that I need scratched which some long powerful guitar solos and loud and mean drums banging with a vocalist screaming as If it’s the last words he’s ever gonna say. Oh well just a thought, I may be wrong and I would love to be but until then, that’s all for now!
